We're hiring one full-stack developer to join a small studio that ships frontend that actually works. You'll work alongside a senior team — the founder and associated engineers — on engagements where every project has a senior voice from day one.
What you'll do
- 01Own end-to-end delivery on at least one active engagement — discovery, build, ship, hand-off.
- 02Write production React (and sometimes Angular) — profiled, accessible, type-safe, code-reviewed.
- 03Build the Node services and API layers that back the frontend — Fastify, PostgreSQL, OpenTelemetry.
- 04Integrate AI features (Anthropic, OpenAI) where they earn their place — evals, cost budgets, fallbacks.
- 05Pair with the founder on architecture decisions; explain trade-offs in writing.
What we expect
- 013+ years on production React, ideally including a real performance or refactor engagement.
- 02Comfortable in Node.js / TypeScript on the backend — you can ship a Fastify or Express service without hand-holding.
- 03Care about accessibility — you've shipped against WCAG 2.1 AA, not just read about it.
- 04Care about the user, not just the code. You understand that a slow render and a confusing flow are both product challenges.
- 05Async-first communicator. PRs, written specs, considered code reviews.
- 06Calm under release pressure. You'd rather measure than guess.
Nice to have
- 01Angular at scale (not just AngularJS).
- 02Streaming / WebSockets / high-throughput data UIs.
- 03Public writing or talks on frontend engineering.
- 04Open source contributions.
This isn't a fit if
- 01If you want to specialise narrowly. The studio is small — you'll do frontend, backend, and the boring glue.
- 02If you need a manager to assign tickets every day. We don't have a delivery manager and won't be hiring one.
- 03If your background is mostly WordPress, jQuery, or templated builds. We don't take that work.
